Natural Medicine is Discipline ability Body to maintain optimal health

Natural medicine is a discipline that emphasizes the body's ability to heal itself and maintain itself at optimum health. Naturopathic doctors use herbs and foods to stimulate the body's healing processes rather than simply using drugs to treat the symptom of a disease. Simplistically, natural medicine can be thought of as wellness management rather than disease management.

So, by choosing natural medicine, a person is choosing to adopt a preventative, proactive approach to health rather than a reactive approach - waiting until a health issue arises and then seeking treatment. Natural medicine and traditional allopathic medicine can and should exist side by side, but in balance.

Treating the symptom may be a quick fix band aid, but addressing the underlying causes will help the body return to its natural state of optimal health.

Natural medicine isn't a silver bullet, magical fix approach. Is natural medicine different from alternative medicine? What is allopathic medicine compared to conventional medicine? Conventional Medicine: Sometimes used interchangeably with traditional medicine. This is medicine that is endorsed by and practiced by the current medical establishment. Allopathic Medicine: Within conventional medicine as practiced today, this is the predominant philosophy. Natural Medicine: This philosophy emphasizes supporting the healing powers of the body rather than just treating the symptoms of a disease. Examples of natural medicine include homeopathy, chiropractic, acupuncture, naturopathy, hydrotherapy, massage therapy, and nutritional and lifestyle choices.

Alternative Medicine: Often used interchangeably with natural medicine. Basically, it encompasses any healing practice that does not fall within the realm of conventional medicine or is not widely accepted by conventional medicine and is not taught in conventional medical schools. Complementary Medicine: This is treatment that is not intended to replace conventional medical treatment but complement or augment it. Like alternative medicine, what is considered complementary can change as the medical establishment changes what it finds acceptable.

Subsequently, natural medicine played a significant role in improving health and treating illness.

What's astonishing is that these natural medicines haven't been dented by the gradual increase of modern medicines. Natural health therapies such as homeopathy, traditional Chinese and Oriental methods are worldwide famous for their positive impact.

Besides everyday herbal remedies, herbal medicines can treat many health problems and diseases such as high cholesterol, arthritis, weight loss, flu and cold.
